Introducing Sol Inc.

Sol Inc. is a real-time strategy game made the way the great ones were. If you lost evenings to Command & Conquer, Red Alert, StarCraft or Age of Empires II, you know the kind: build a base, gather what you need, raise an army, and take the map.

The race

It’s 2087. Earth’s corporations are racing each other for the resources of the Moon, Mars and beyond. Three are ahead: a British mining company, an American AI company and a Chinese manufacturer. Whoever wins this race controls the fate of humanity.

The ground is the resource

Every match starts with a starport and five colonists. The dust under their feet is regolith, and it pays for every building and wall you build. Scrape it and it’s gone for good, so as a match goes on, the fight moves to whatever ground is left. Ice gives your colonists water. Helium-3 fuels fusion, and the war machines you send to take what remains.

Controls your hands remember

Number keys for control groups. Shift to queue orders. Double-click to select every unit of a type. A build grid on QWERT, ASDFG and ZXCVB. If you’ve played an RTS before, you already know how to play this one.

How you’ll play

Play the story as one of the corporations and fight to win the race for the Solar System. Or play with other people, and let one match decide who controls humanity.

Where we are

We’re at the start. The game runs and plays, but the art you see today is programmer art, standing in until the real artwork is made. This blog will follow Sol Inc. as it grows, so expect it to look different from one post to the next.
